Why Verdana and not Helvetica?

The same reason anyone uses Verdana for anything, because it was the default! I switched it to liberation though. Helvetica isn't for everything and it didn't look right, trust me.

No you didn't, you changed it to Arial, at least on macs or other computers without liberation installed. Helvetica looks fine on a mac and shitty in xp, or so I am lead to believe. FWIW here is what Y! does: arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif; for exactly this reason.  Effectively this is almost the same as just having "arial;" since almost all modern computers have arial installed.
